Do i need to delete all my public html files if I wanted to reinstall wordpress?
On one of my websites someone asked a question, and as there are most likely others wondering about the same, I recorded a short video giving the answer.
The question asked, was:
“Do i need to delete all my public_html files if I wanted to reinstall wordpress? I screwed up my wordpress installation and i want to start from scratch. How do i reintall wordpress. Do I need to delete all the files under public_html?”
The general recommendation would be to create a backup of all your content that you want to keep, things like posts, pages, comments and so on.
Next you want to remove all WordPress files in the public_html directory.
Then you want to delete the current WordPress database.
Next you want to do a fresh wordpress install and create a new database to go with it.
At this stage you will need to re-enter your content that you saved in the backup earlier.
Google and youtube are your friends, as there are lots of good tutorials to find there.
